Olive ash coffee table

Sweet chestnut coffee table - 2015
Material: sweet chestnut
A beautiful waney edged coffee table made out of 40mm thick sweet chestnut which was sourced from the Penllyn Estate, just outside Cowbridge in the rural heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales.
Both ends are dovetailed with a chestnut stretcher underneath to add to the structural integrity of the piece.

Yew coffee table - 2014 (private residence, New York, USA).
Material: yew & beech
I designed and made this table for Havard & Havard of Cowbridge. The top is a piece of Breconshire yew which came from a tree that fell during a storm in 1981. The base was hand sculpted out of laminated, solid beech which then had a hand applied paint finish.
The table was sold to a client in New York, USA in early 2015.

Maclean coffee table - 2009 (Aberthin, Vale of Glamorgan)
Material: reclaimed sapele
My client's brief was to design a table using reclaimed wood i had in stock and that had rounded corners (so they would'nt hurt their legs on sharp corners). I still love the clean aesthetic that was based on Japanese temples (writing this in 2015).

Oak coffee table - 2009 (private residence, Welsh Saint Donats, Vale of Glamorgan)
Material: Welsh oak & sycamore
This coffee table has a 1 metre diameter top made up from a number of pieces of oak, that are joined together on the underside by sycamore butterfly keys.

Harris dining table - 2009 (private residence, Cardiff, Wales)
Material: reclaimed beech & glacier white corian
The pre-requisite for this project was to use reclaimed wood i had in stock. I had some old beech countertops which were reworked & then had a glacier white corian top specially made for the project.

Bi-fold table - 2006 (private residence, Brixton, London)
Material: sycamore, American black walnut & formica.
This was a live brief from a London lawyer for my HND furniture course at Bucks New University, High Wycombe. My client wanted an extending table that had two functions: the formica surface was for daily use then the table would extend to reveal the bookmatched walnut finish for entertaining clients.
